Safety & Environment

APM Terminals, Jacksonville, is committed to operating its business optimally while protecting employees and others working on site, the property, and the environment from accidental losses. In fulfilling this commitment, we seek to provide and maintain a safe, healthful, and environmentally friendly work setting by using generally accepted best business practices and by complying with regulatory and Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements. Safety is the science of reducing the risk of injuries and/or accidents from occurring to its lowest acceptable level. APM Terminals health, safety, environmental, and quality policy is based on a sincere desire to eliminate all incidents that result in personal injuries, occupational illness, equipment damage, property damage and environmental damage or pollution. APM also strives to protect the general public insofar as they come in contact with or are affected by our operations. At APM Terminals, we are continuously trying to improve the protection of our employees, labor and environment.

APM Terminals, Jacksonville, expectsthat all management and laborers give their personal attention, effort, and support to safety and the environment. It is good business and evidence of competent leadership to protect the environment and prevent injuries/accidents. In retrospect, we can recognize that nearly all accidents are preventable. To maintain our enviable place in the industry’s leadership, we must and will be successful in prevention of accidents and promotion of environmental awareness. As a direct result of management and labor’s commitment to safety we enjoyed a 342 day period with no loss time accidents, from 9/8/06 until 8/14/07.
